Japan to host Club World Cup

The Club World Cup will be played in Japan from 10-20 December 2015, confirmed FIFA.

The top tournament for club sides all over the globe had already been hosted by Japan from 2005 to 2008, then again in 2011 and 2012.

It had been held in Morocco for the past two years, but has returned to Asia.

“This is a country with a proven track record when it comes to staging FIFA events, including six editions of the FIFA Club World Cup, which were all successful,” said FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke.

Matrix: Just like Berlin!

Marco Materazzi has likened Inter's Club World Cup win to his success with Italy at Germany 2006.

The Nerazzurri beat surprise finalists Mazembe 3-0 on Saturday and, although the defender didn't play, he's enjoying another global victory.

"Champion of the world again, it was as nice as Berlin four years ago," the veteran told his official website.

"It's not always true that one trophy is worth more than another, that one victory feels different to another, because other things make the difference.

Stankovic: 'Snub is an open wound'

Dejan Stankovic spoiled Inter's Club World Cup party by confessing his bench role is "an open wound."

There is tension between Rafa Benitez and Stankovic, who scored in the semi-final against Seongnam, but only came on as a substitute for the Final with Mazembe.

“The fact I didn't play from the start is an open wound,” confessed the midfielder.

“I am very happy for the trophy we had been missing for four decades, for the President, the staff and all those close to us, but I cannot hide I was upset.

Materazzi: 'We won thanks to the club'

Marco Materazzi refused to celebrate with teammates and launched a broadside at Rafa Benitez. “Thanks to the club we're world champions.”

Inter may have won the Club World Cup with a 3-0 victory over Mazembe, but the tension is sky high.

The Nerazzurri returned to Milan this morning and Materazzi wasted no time commenting on Rafa's threats to walk away.

“Change Benitez? It's the club, which is the strongest in the world, that decides,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

Line-ups: Maicon starts Cup Final

Douglas Maicon returns to the Inter starting XI for the Club World Cup Final against Mazembe, but Dejan Stankovic is on the bench.

Rafa Benitez has made changes to the side that beat Seongnam 3-0 in the semi-final, bringing back the Brazilian after a long injury lay-off.

Thiago Motta starts after he came on for the injured Wesley Sneijder in the opening minutes of that match.

Maicon's inclusion puts Javier Zanetti back into a wide midfield position, so Stankovic is the one to make way.
