Bonucci turns down City

It is reported that Leonardo Bonucci has turned down the chance to join Manchester City from Juventus.

The 29-year-old has been with the Bianconeri since 2010, forming part of a formidable back three alongside Andrea Barzagli and Giorgio Chiellini for both club and country.

His performances have caught the eye of new City boss Pep Guardiola, who has been given a remit of winning the Champions League during his tenure at Etihad Stadium.

Bonucci: ‘Juventus must always win’

Leonardo Bonucci sounds a rallying cry to his Juventus teammates - “every game has to be a win.”

The Bianconeri have endured a poor start to the Serie A season, and currently lie 10th, nine points off the top of the table.

The summer saw a number of new arrivals in Turin, and the defender says he and his fellow experienced campaigners must impart the philosophy of the club.

Bonucci: ‘Less anxiety in Europe’

Leonardo Bonucci admits Juventus have more “anxiety” in Serie A compared to the Champions League.

The Bianconeri are 14th in the League following last night’s draw with Inter, but have won both of their games in Europe so far.

“What we have to do is remind everyone that when you wear this shirt, you have to fight until the end,” Bonucci told Sky.

“Are we thinking of the Scudetto? Now is not the time, we’re 14th, and we just have to concentrate on winning.

Where do Italy go from here?

There’s no question the Azzurri are in transition, but Edo Dalmonte sees light at the end of the tunnel.

It’s tough to talk about La Nazionale these days. There are very few certainties, after an up-and-down qualifying campaign.

Our imaginary Azzurri building blocks are full of red flags. Italy are unbeaten in fifty qualifiers? Sure, against the likes of Bulgaria and Malta. Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci still make elementary mistakes in an Azzurri shirt. Marco Verratti still has developing to do.

Bonucci: ‘No Juventus alibis’

Leonardo Bonucci says Juventus must ‘take responsibility’ and ‘leave the alibis to others’ after their draw with Frosinone.

The Bianconeri have started their Serie A title defence sluggishly, taking only five points from their opening five matches.

Last night’s 1-1 draw with newly-promoted Frosinone was the visitors’ first point of the season and saw the Old Lady booed off the pitch by irate fans.

Bonucci blasts 'not real Juve fans'

Leonardo Bonucci slammed the crowd who jeered Juventus as “not real fans” after a draw with Chievo.

The Bianconeri are having their worst ever start to a Serie A season with one point from three rounds, needing a late penalty to hold Chievo 1-1 last night.

They were jeered off the field at half-time, during the game and at the final whistle, infuriating Bonucci to the degree he wrote a message on social media.

Bonucci: 'Italy must kill off games'

Leonardo Bonucci said Italy “can’t kill off” games and reassured Daniele De Rossi after a 1-0 win over Bulgaria.

“We were more determined from the start and you could see our attitude. We did well to take the lead, but still lack the clinical finishing to kill off this type of game,” the Juventus defender told Rai Sport.

“Nonetheless, this week we have taken home six crucial points to qualify for Euro 2016.”

Bonucci: 'Transitional year'

Bonucci: 'For Juve doubters'

Leonardo Bonucci pointed out Juventus “replied to the doubters” with their 2-0 Super Cup triumph against Lazio.

The Bianconeri did the Double last season and reached the Champions League Final, but made big changes over the summer with Andrea Pirlo, Carlos Tevez and Arturo Vidal leaving.

“It was very important for us to win today, also so this new Juve could reply to the doubters,” smiled the centre-back in Shanghai.
