‘Maldini and Baresi the best’

Silvio Berlusconi names Paolo Maldini and Franco Baresi as his favourite Milan players of the past.

The Rossoneri patron has owned the club since 1986, and in a new biography, ‘My Way’, serialised in Gazzetta dello Sport, he names his favourite players from the past.

“Of the former players, from when I began my mission with Milan, Maldini and Baresi are especially in my heart,” Berlusconi admits.

Maldini: 'Buffon snub absurd'

Paolo Maldini said the Ballon d’Or “has lost credibility” under FIFA and it’s “absurd” to exclude Gigi Buffon.

The Juventus captain’s absence from the long-list of candidates has infuriated the football world beyond Italy’s borders too and today Demetrio Albertini promised to “vote for him anyway as a write-in candidate.”

Maldini: 'No Juve regrets'

Paolo Maldini believes Juventus “should have no regrets” about their Champions League Final with Barcelona.

The Bianconeri were beaten 3-1 in Berlin, though the final result was harsh.

“Juventus should have no regrets and really could not have done more,” Maldini told Sky Sport Italia.

“They put in a great performance. There was suffering at the stat, mainly due to the experience and quality of the Barcelona players, but Juve proved themselves to be a real team.

Maldini launches Miami FC

Paolo Maldini has become the owner of a new franchise, Miami FC, who begin playing in 2016.

The Milan legend bought the franchise with entrepreneur Riccardo Silva and this is the city’s only professional football club.

This side will be in the NASL – North American Soccer League – the second division behind the MLS.

“Miami finally has an ownership group with a global vision and the experience to build a proper club that all of Miami will be proud to support,” said NASL Commissioner Bill Peterson.

Maldini: ‘Return to Milan? Maybe…’

Club legend Paolo Maldini is unsure whether he’ll ever return to Milan - ‘I don’t know if it will happen’.

The former defender played over 900 games for the Rossoneri, winning five European Cups and seven Scudetti.

It has been rumoured that Maldini could return to the club in a director role if Thai investor Bee Taechaubol takes over, but the 46-year-old is unsure if he’ll be back.

“I played for 25 years,” Maldini reminded fans and media, as he spoke at a University event.

Taechaubol: 'Milan the greatest club'

Bee Taechaubol said he is investing in Milan because “it is the greatest club. I hope to reach a conclusion soon.”

The Thai businessman met with President Silvio Berlusconi today at the Park Hyatt Milano, then spoke to reporters crowded outside after the patron had driven away.

“I hope to be able to come to a conclusion soon. Everything has been very good and I am honoured by the President to have included me and allowed me to come in on this transaction and of course be a part of AC Milan.
