De Rossi in, Vermaelen out for Roma

Daniele De Rossi features in Roma’s squad to face Sampdoria, but Thomas Vermaelen misses out.

Giallorossi Coach Luciano Spalletti has named a 22-man contingent for the match against the Blucerchiati at Stadio Olimpico.

There had been fears that 33-year-old De Rossi, who has struggled with calf problems of late, would miss out on Sunday’s clash. However, he has recovered in time.

De Rossi punished for derby insults

Daniele De Rossi and Roma are deferred to the Disciplinary Commission for their “offensive” post-Lazio celebration.

The incidents occurred after the final whistle of a 2-1 victory in the Derby della Capitale on May 24 2015.

Today the FIGC released a statement confirming that the Disciplinary Commission would take action against De Rossi, with Roma also potentially fined for his behaviour.

‘Roma aiming for big things’

Radja Nainggolan praises Roma Coach Rudi Garcia, and says they’re targeting ‘big things’.

The Belgian midfielder had previously declared that the Giallorossi have reached the level of Juventus, and went on to discuss his Coach and teammates.

Roma’s Alessandro Florenzi ‘enjoys being a full-back’ and reflects on his wonder goal against Barcelona: ‘I thought the applause was for trying!’

The 24-year-old scored a stunning goal from the halfway line to earn the Giallorossi a 1-1 draw against the defending champions at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday.

Garcia: 'Roma studied Barca'

Rudi Garcia explained his tactical approach to Barcelona and why Daniele De Rossi showed “incredible intelligence” for Roma.

“It’s a huge result to draw with Barcelona and really boosts our confidence. We were tactically smart, knew that against Barcelona you have to work hard and defend stoically,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“We could’ve done better in holding possession and being dangerous on the counter, but I am satisfied, as the lads responded well and did what we had prepared.”
