Nainggolan: Serie A more interesting

Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan says he is relishing a “more interesting” Serie A this season after several strong starts.

Napoli, Juve, Inter, Lazio, Roma and Milan all occupy Serie A’s top six, with only seven points separating the sides and the Giallorossi beating Udinese 3-1 on Saturday.

“Too much criticism of this Roma team? For me, it’s too early to talk now,” the midfielder told Roma TV.

“We must keep doing what we’re doing and try to do what the Coach asks of us.

Spalletti: Inter must do more, but…

Luciano Spalletti felt more was needed from him and Inter after their 1-0 win against Genoa but was delighted with the “belief” they showed to pull through.

Danilo D’Ambrosio’s late goal secured a fifth win in six matches for Inter to consolidate third place in Serie A, but while Spalletti was pleased with the result, he made it clear the Nerazzurri were still a work in progress.

“They were very good at shutting us out and coming back out,” the Coach said after the game.

D’Ambrosio: ‘Vital to win’

Inter match-winner Danilo D’Ambrosio says it was vital his side beat Genoa after scoring the decisive goal late on.

After losing their 100 per cent record in Serie A with a draw in Bologna in midweek, the Nerazzurri appeared to be set to lose more ground on early pace-setters Napoli and Juventus as Ivan Juric’s team frustrated them for long periods.

However, defender D’Ambrosio’s 87th minute header finally broke the deadlock and ensured the San Siro outfit remain just two points off the top of the table.

Juric: 'Foul before Inter goal'

Ivan Juric believes VAR should’ve been used on a foul in the build-up to Inter’s winning goal against Genoa. “Free kicks went only one way.”

The Grifone arguably had some of the better chances at San Siro, but were beaten 1-0 by a Danilo D’Ambrosio header from a Joao Mario corner.

Inter squeeze past Genoa

Inter struggled against Genoa, but squeezed through with a late Danilo D’Ambrosio header and two Grifone red cards.

The Nerazzurri’s performance was similar to the one that saw them held 1-1 by Bologna midweek, except this time they managed to scrape a late victory rather than a stalemate.

Marcelo Brozovic hit the woodwork and Samir Handanovic needed some fine saves, but with three minutes left on the clock, Danilo D’Ambrosio steered in a Joao Mario corner.

The Nerazzurri had made a 100 per cent start to their Serie A season, winning four out of four, but they needed a late Mauro Icardi penalty to escape with a draw against Roberto Donadoni’s team.
