Conte: Title very beautiful, Italy…

Antonio Conte says winning the Premier League with Chelsea “was very beautiful” and “has no doubts” that Italy will qualify for the World Cup.

In the second part of his interview with Radio Anch’io Sport, Conte also suggested the Blues had to keep strengthening their squad in order to regularly compete for the Champions League and praised Napoli for pushing Juventus in the Scudetto race.

“Premier League? Six teams will be fighting for the title,” explained the former Italy boss.

Gandini: Roma want the Scudetto

Roma CEO Umberto Gandini has asserted that the Giallorossi are “playing for the title” this season.

Roma finished just four points behind Juventus in Serie A last season, and despite already falling six off the pace in 2017-18, Gandini made it clear the Lupi would “not hide away” in their quest for silverware.

“We’re playing to do our best and after finishing four points behind Juventus last season, it’s necessary that we play for the title,” he told Radio Anch’io Sport.

Wk6: Human error

Football cannot exist without errors, judgment calls and disagreements, so Susy Campanale warns it's all about the great imponderable elements.

It is impossible – nor is it desirable – to completely remove human error from sport. VAR’s truth is in the eye of the beholder. Players making mistakes to cause or miss goals is what football is based on. A Coach will always be accused of doing something wrong, no matter how much or little he changes his team from match to match. Errors, and the avoidance of them, are what make sport possible. It’s also why there are so many debate shows, podcasts, Twitter feeds and blogs like this one, because we don’t all agree on what is right.

Tumminello has torn ACL

Crotone striker Marco Tumminello, who is on loan from Roma, has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee.

The 18-year-old had scored the only Crotone goal in the opening five rounds, in a midweek 5-1 defeat to Atalanta.

He started today’s match with Benevento, but lasted only a couple of minutes before falling awkwardly.

The situation immediately looked to be serious and tests have confirmed a torn ACL in his knee.

Tumminello will undergo surgery tomorrow at the Villa Stuart clinic.

Behrami: ‘We can’t fall into depression’

Udinese’s Valon Behrami says it is down to the club’s senior players to improve squad morale as they prepare to face a training retreat.

The Bianconeri have taken just three points from their opening six Serie A matches, losing 3-1 to Roma on Saturday.

With the team now facing a week-long training camp ahead of next weekend’s match against in-form Sampdoria, Coach Luigi Del Neri’s future also appears in the balance.

“It is down to us senior players to not allow the group to fall into a depression,” Behrami stated.

Perotti doubt for Qarabag and Milan

Diego Perotti is in doubt for Roma’s games against Qarabag and Milan after needing 10 stitches for a gash on his leg.

The Argentine forward earned and then missed a penalty in the 3-1 victory over Udinese on Saturday, firing it against the upright.

It was a rare error from the spot for him and Perotti pointed that out via Instagram.

“Well that explains why I missed the penalty,” he wrote alongside a photograph of the nasty-looking injury.

Platini: 'Serie A more competitive now'

Michel Platini believes “the level of competitiveness has improved in Serie A, as Juventus aren’t as dominant as they were.”

The Bianconeri are top with Napoli after six round, as both still have a 100 per cent record.

“The level of competitiveness has improved in Serie A, as Juventus aren’t as dominant as they were,” Platini told beIN Sports.

“Inter and Milan have invested heavily on the transfer market, then you have Roma and Napoli too.”

Del Neri at risk for Udinese

Gigi Del Neri is under pressure after Udinese are ordered into a training retreat, as the match with Sampdoria could be decisive.

The Friulani have lost five of their six Serie A games so far this season and were swept aside 3-1 by Roma on Saturday afternoon.

It could’ve been considerably more, as they were 3-0 down by half-time.

Udinese club chiefs ordered the squad into a training retreat from Monday, so they can focus on being ready for next weekend’s clash with Samp.
