Samp: Everyone wants Torreira, but…

Sampdoria’s sporting director asserts Lucas Torreira will stay put in January, “even if everyone’s already asking me about him.”

Torreira’s stock reached new heights after his goal in Sampdoria’s 3-2 win against Juventus last weekend, but despite the queue of clubs lining up for the midfielder, Carlo Osti made it clear he would be going nowhere.

“Torreira has gone from Serie B to A with ridiculous ease,” he told La Repubblica.

Costa: ‘Juventus played well’

Douglas Costa insists Juventus “played well” against Sampdoria, but “we have to be more solid”.

The Bianconeri were 3-0 down to Samp in Genoa, and despite two late goals they fell to defeat and now sit four points behind Serie A leaders Napoli.

“We played well in Genoa, but that’s how football is,” the winger told JTV.

“If you don’t score and you concede goals then the match is compromised. I try to make myself ready when I’m called upon.

Wk13: Take nothing for granted

There's a revolution taking place in Serie A and anyone who assumes things are going their way will be left empty-handed, writes Susy Campanale.

After a break for international duty that saw Italy miss out on their first World Cup since 1958, it was only fitting that this weekend’s Serie A games should follow a similar theme: take nothing for granted.

Ferrero: 'Beat Ferrari with Fiat 500'

Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero assured “nobody will leave in January” and said they “beat a Ferrari with a Fiat 500” after defeating Juventus.

The Blucerchiati have won all six of their home games in Serie A this season and swept the Bianconeri aside 3-2 this afternoon.

“I was sat there with my Fiat 500 and started honking the car horn with a Ferrari in front of me, but they got out of the way and I overtook them,” Ferrero told reporters in the mixed zone.

Chiellini questions Juve desire

Giorgio Chiellini questioned Juventus’ desire after they were beaten 3-2 by Sampdoria this afternoon.

It was a harrowing afternoon for Max Allegri’s team at Marassi, with the defending champions going three goals down before late consolation strikes by Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala gave the scoreline a closer look.

Speaking post-match, the veteran defender called on his teammates to start ‘wanting’ to win matches again.

Giampaolo: 'Icing on Samp cake'

Marco Giampaolo tried to calm the talk of Champions League football after Sampdoria swept Juventus aside 3-2. “This result is the icing on the cake.”

The Blucerchiati maintained their perfect home record with a sixth consecutive victory at Marassi and had been 3-0 up through Duvan Zapata, Lucas Torreira and Gianmarco Ferrari.

“We have to ignore everything that is around us and focus only on our daily work,” Giampaolo told Sky Sport Italia.

Allegri: 'Juve slapped in the face'

Max Allegri told off Juventus for being “hasty and losing our cool” in the 3-2 defeat to Sampdoria. “This was an unexpected slap in the face.”

The Blucerchiati were 3-0 up, but a Gonzalo Higuain penalty and Paulo Dybala solo effort set up a tense finale in stoppages.

“All I can say is that it was a good first half and we made some mistakes in our finishing and choices in the final third,” Allegri told Mediaset Premium.

Zapata: ‘We took our chances’

Duvan Zapata is delighted with Sampdoria’s 3-2 win over Juventus, saying the Blucerchiati ‘took their chances.’

Marco Giampaolo’s team claimed a famous victory over the Serie A champions at Marassi this afternoon, a result that would have been far more convincing were it not for two late Juve consolation goals.

“We have given great happiness to our fans,” Colombian forward Zapata told Mediaset after scoring his side’s opener early in the second half.
