Serie A Team of Week 6

After a long weekend, Dave Taylor picks a 3-5-2 where Fiorentina, Roma and Napoli dominated in his top XI from Week 6.

Morgan De Sanctis [Roma]

A relatively comfortable evening but always ready when needed. First he denied a Marco Borriello bullet with a fingertip save, stopped a Ryder Matos penalty and the subsequent follow-up before saving a strong Kevin Lasagna effort. Alert.

Kalidou Koulibaly [Napoli]

‘Totti still important for Roma’

Rudi Garcia insists Francesco Totti is still important for Roma, but admits ‘he can’t play every game’.

The Giallorossi captain is 38-years-old, and with the arrival of Edin Dzeko, there has been speculation he will play a bit-part role this season.

“We’re fortunate to have a great captain,” Garcia said in his Press conference ahead of the trip to Verona.

“Nothing has changed with the quality of someone who is a champion on the field and in life. He was invaluable [in the pre-season friendly] against Valencia.

Can Szczesny bring the Scudetto?

With the recent acquisition of Wojciech Szczesny, could Roma have finally found their new talisman to guard their goal and send them to a fourth Scudetto? Probably not, writes George Rinaldi.

''A goalkeeper!'' screamed the Romanisti. ''Finally a worthy man between the sticks… wait… it's Szczesny?'' The response many fans who occupy the Curva Sud wailed in unison. Their club had finally signed another goalkeeper, and yet it all appeared rather underwhelming. The Giallorossi seem to have had a problem with goalkeepers for some time now, and looking back at them, when the name 'Alexander Doni' is touted as the best in recent years, there's a problem.

Roma look at Casillas

According to Spanish newspaper As, Roma are in negotiations with Casillas for an experience in Serie A.

He has a three-year contract with Real Madrid that does not expire until June 2017, earning €3m per season.
