‘Juve a level above’

Roma’s Stephan El Shaarawy admits Juventus’ ability to sign world class players puts them a level above their rivals.

The Old Lady have signed Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli, their nearest challengers last season, in addition to former Giallorossi man Miralem Pjanic during this summer’s transfer window.

“I think that Juve are a level above everyone, they have had a very significant transfer window and bought world class players,” El Shaarawy remarked to Sport Mediaset.

Simone: 'Milan all money, no ideas'

Former Milan star Marco Simone blamed Silvio Berlusconi for their struggle. “He used to have ideas, now just money.”

The Rossoneri failed to qualify for Europe for two years running and currently have just nine points from seven Serie A rounds.

“I always follow Milan and it hurts me to see them like this,” ex-striker Simone told Tuttomercatoweb.

“It would be banal to analyse Milan for their results. The ream problems are at the top and I’m not talking about the budget.

“It’s definitely a very important game, because we’ll be in the European Championships with a win,” El Shaarawy told journalists in a Press conference at Coverciano.

El Shaarawy: 'Great performance'

Stephan El Shaarawy revealed Antonio Conte’s instructions after a fine performance in Italy’s 1-0 win over Bulgaria.

The Little Pharaoh wasn’t even on the bench against Malta on Thursday, but started tonight at the Stadio Barbera in Palermo.

“It was a great performance and we created a lot, unlike the most recent match against Malta, but it’s a shame only one shot went in from a penalty,” he told Rai Sport.

El Shaarawy starts with Bulgaria?

Stephan El Shaarawy wasn’t even on the bench against Malta, but could start tonight’s Italy-Bulgaria qualifier.

It kicks off at the Stadio Barbera in Palermo at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).

Coach Antonio Conte is keeping his cards close to his chest and hid training sessions from reporters, so predictions about the line-up are many and varied.

Confirmation of the 4-3-3 system seems increasingly likely with Graziano Pellè retaining his spot, but it’s a mystery who will complete the trident.

Pt2: Assessing Italy's youth

Italy must reshape its roster to regain international success. In part two of his analysis, Vincent van Genechten evaluates the new breed of strikers.

STRIKERS

Lorenzo Insigne (24, Napoli)

Insigne made his way through the youth ranks at Napoli and had very successful loans at Foggia and Pescara. The winger scored 37 goals in only two seasons and returned to the Partenopei in 2012. In three Serie A campaigns Insigne sits at 10 goals and an impressive 21 assists. He hasn’t made the expected big bang as he’s only played six times for the Azzurri, but he’s developed into a very good player for a strong Serie A side, being valued at €15m.
