Diego Lopez admits Palermo had a “psychological collapse” after wasting another lead for their 3-1 home defeat to Cagliari.

Once again the Rosanero opened the scoring only to throw it all away and now chances of Serie A safety are very slim indeed.

“We conceded the equaliser and immediately after that they added a second. When we keep doing that, it becomes very difficult to recover from such a situation,” the Coach told Radio Rai.

“We conceded the equaliser and immediately after that they added a second. When we keep doing that, it becomes very difficult to recover from such a situation,” the Coach told Radio Rai.

“The first half was really good, but in the second we again had this psychological collapse. It’s a mental issue and we keep seeing the pattern repeated.”

Palermo slipped to penultimate place and are only two clear of bottom club Pescara, who held Milan to a 1-1 draw today.

Above all, they are seven points adrift of Empoli and the safety zone, whereas Crotone won away to Chievo today in order to close that gap to five points.
