“We are satisfied with the performance for these lads who always give something more, but certainly not for the result,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

The Viola saw a run of three consecutive 1-0 victories come to an end in this morning’s Marassi thriller.

“We are satisfied with the performance for these lads who always give something more, but certainly not for the result,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“We deserved something more today. We are doing well and were up against a side in very good shape with passionate fans all around us.

“We came back twice from a goal down and that says something. There was such a good chance to win it at the end with Khouma Babacar.

“Europe was never the objective, we are not a team to chase Europe, but who tries to be competitive. This result certainly damages our chances of getting closer to those places, but nobody had the idea of Europe.

“Our duty is to work every day and only then consider the table. Our objective this season has not changed, as we knew there were teams with a lot more quality, but proved we can beat anyone if we use our strengths.”
