The Giallorossi were beaten 3-1 by their city rivals on Sunday, a result which has almost certainly handed the Scudetto to Juventus for a sixth year in a row.

“Real Roma fans are today frantic and angry about what we saw yesterday,” Giannini, a club legend who spent 15 years with the Lupi, told Centro Suono Sport.

“It was a disgraceful performance that these fans don’t deserve. It breaks my balls to see a season like this, to see such a shameful figure being shown on the pitch.

“In my time there were protests, I argued in the street with Romanisti and Laziali so I certainly won’t be pulling any punches now.

“Seeing people wandering about on that pitch, without even a minimum of love, without the slightest pride in the shirt they’re wearing; who played only the first 10 minutes of the Derby… as a fan and a former player for this team, that hurt.

“Players need to think about playing, not about the future of the Coach [Luciano Spalletti], or this, or that. We are Roma! We are Roma! Enough.

“You can’t run a club from kilometres away, [Franco] Baldini can’t run the club from London, deciding who comes in and out.

“Yesterday I watched Monchi with amazement, for more than 10 minutes he stood and looked at the Curva, the colours, the fans.

“It’s a directorship and an ownership which doesn’t have a Giallorosso soul, they don’t know how to remedy any mistakes they make.

“Why is Bruno Conti, the only undisputed Romanista on this board put on the fringes?”

Giannini was also asked about Spalletti, and was in no mood to spare the Coach.

“Phenomena don’t exist. Because of his statements, his thoughts, his doubts; he’s lost the reigns of his team and compromised their season.

“Maybe [Antonio] Conte is a phenomenon, because he wins everywhere. Spalletti is a good Coach, nothing more.”
