Genoa teenager Pietro Pellegri, who became Serie A’s joint-youngest ever player last season, has reportedly turned down moves to Milan and Manchester City.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli held several rounds of talks with Pellegri’s agent Beppe Riso and invited the 16-year-old to the club’s Milanello training complex.

The striker was also given the same treatment by City, but the website notes Genoa are unwilling to let go of the player.

More importantly, Pellegri is keen to continue his development at his childhood club, as are his family.

Aged 15 years and 280 days, Pellegri matched the all-time record set by Amedeo Amadei as the youngest player in the Italian top flight, courtesy of his appearance against Torino back in December.

The Italy youth international then became the first player born in 2001 to score in Serie A after his goal at Roma, in Francesco Totti’s farewell on the final day of the season.
