Samp miss Mere, keep Dodo

Sampdoria target Jorge Mere has joined German side Koln, while Inter loanee Dodo will not be sold to Sao Paulo.

Mere was reported to be one of three centre-backs that Samp had pinpointed, but Koln have since confirmed his arrival from Sporting Gijon on a five-year contract.

Furthermore, Gianluca Di Marzio’s website claims Sao Paulo have run out of time in their efforts to sign Dodo.

The 25-year-old had been the subject of a possible €3m switch to the Brazilian club, but his native country’s transfer window shuts at midnight on Friday.

Dodo has spent the past two seasons on loan at Samp from Inter but made just 26 appearances in that time due to struggles for form and fitness.
