Stefano Pioli believes “next week will be decisive” as Fiorentina “have to make changes and can’t hang around” in the transfer market.
Fiorentina drew 1-1 with Bari on Saturday, in the final friendly of their preseason training camp in Moena, but Pioli was unsurprisingly faced with questions about the Viola’s transfer campaign, with Federico Bernardeschi and Nikola Kalinic possibly leaving and a lack of enthusiasm regarding new arrivals.
“What I liked? Our spirit and character. We didn’t deserve to lose, but conceding from their first shot wasn’t good,” explained the Coach.
“Still, I liked our desire not to give up, despite the heavy legs, and our movement to create space between the lines. I liked the players’ involvement.
“We gave everything, there were no injuries. Our training camp was good for us, in my opinion. Now I hope that certain situations will be clarified as soon as possible.
“The market? Our directors are working well. Next week will be decisive.
“We want to change, even if it’s not what we wanted, and the rush isn’t good for us. We still have time to do some good work.
“It’s clear that we have to give our best. The fans need players who see Fiorentina as their pinnacle and not a stepping stone.
“We have a shirt to defend. We’ve lost some important players, but they were no longer motivated to play for us.
“We have to make changes, we can’t hang around. Within 15 days? I hope so, but the dynamics don’t only depend on us.
“We’re working on multiple fronts, and the club are working hard to fill these shortcomings.
“If the players that come in know the Italian League, that will definitely be an advantage. Our objective is to be ready on August 20.”
