Roma have announced the signing of left-back Aleksandar Kolarov from Manchester City for €5m.

Kolarov, 31, has put pen to paper on a three-year contract with Roma and seemingly ends their search for a left-sided defender, while becoming the Giallorossi’s seventh summer capture.

“I am extremely happy to be here,” Kolarov told the club’s official website.

“I will give 100 percent and more for Roma. My objective is always the same: to win.”

Sporting director Monchi added: “Aleksandar is a player with vast experience who can immediately contribute to the team.

“I believe he will help us develop, on and off the pitch. I want to thank him for the enthusiasm and willingness he has shown in wanting to come to Roma.”

Kolarov joined City from Lazio in 2010 and made over 200 appearances for the English side, winning two Premier League titles.

However, the Serb’s move has not gone down well with a section of Aquile fans, who branded him a “worm” via a banner held up during their team’s 2-0 win against SPAL on Saturday.
