Milan CEO Marco Fassone would not confirm or deny Diego Costa rumours, but said “one day we’ll reveal all” of the Gianluigi Donnarumma saga.
“We hope to have started putting the right players at the disposal of the Coach. We are well aware of the risks of putting 10 new players into a locker room, but trust the Coach and squad will work to gel as quickly as possible,” Fassone told Sky Sport Italia as he arrived for the 2017-18 Serie A fixtures ceremony.
Fassone was asked specifically about Chelsea striker Diego Costa, who is expected to join Atletico Madrid in January.
“I no longer wish to mention names of players at other clubs, because otherwise everyone will get angry. Diego Costa is a very talented player, he is a Chelsea player, we are evaluating various options.
“We met with Jorge Mendes because there are many things you can talk about with him.
“We have done a great deal already, we’ll now see if it’s worth investing further in other areas of the team. We enjoyed this ‘blitz’ with Mendes.”
Milan returned to Europe after two years and tomorrow evening visit Craiova in a Europa League qualifier.
“I just heard we have surpassed 41,000 tickets sold for the Craiova game at San Siro, so that shows the excitement and enthusiasm around the side.”
Milan brought in 10 new players, but the biggest coup was perhaps keeping Donnarumma after a lengthy contract renewal saga.
“Donnarumma was perhaps the most difficult thing we did so far. One day we’ll reveal all of it.”
