Udinese warn they are pulling out of their bid for Napoli striker Leonardo Pavoletti. “We like him, but he is far, far too expensive.”

The 28-year-old striker moved from Genoa to the Stadio San Paolo in January for €18m, but barely featured due to injury and poor form.

“Pavoletti is a player we like, but his contract is too rich for our pockets,” director of sport Manuel Gerolin told Sky Sport Italia.

“We are looking around at available forwards, but Pavoletti is a good player who is far, far too expensive. We aren’t in a bad situation, but we also know having another striker would be useful.

“Kevin Lasagna settled in well, we’ve got Cyril Thereau, Ewandro and Stipe Perica, who is growing well.”

The Udinese chief also confirmed negotiations for 20-year-old Vitoria Guimaraes left-sided winger Raphinha.

“We’re looking around and Raphinha is a player we like. We’ve made enquiries about many players and Raphinha is one of them.”
