Eusebio Di Francesco said he is “still evaluating” the Roma squad ahead of their match with Juventus to decide on transfer strategy.

The Giallorossi face Juve in Boston tomorrow night for the International Champions Cup.

“The team knows what I want and I hope to see even more general improvement. I always expect evolution and we’ve had a good pre-season, even if we are far off being the real Roma,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

The Giallorossi face Juve in Boston tomorrow night for the International Champions Cup.

“The team knows what I want and I hope to see even more general improvement. I always expect evolution and we’ve had a good pre-season, even if we are far off being the real Roma,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“We mustn’t lower our guard against Juventus, especially in the final minutes the way we did against Tottenham, when we thought the game was in hand,” he said of the 3-2 victory.

“I want to see the same unity and reading the situation better. I don’t expect to see no mistakes at all, but at least fewer of them.”

Di Francesco turned to the transfer strategy and looking ahead to the Scudetto race.

“The transfer market closes on August 31, so how we can we give a verdict now? Many teams have strengthened, like Milan and Inter, while Napoli maintained their identity.

“We changed, introducing some interesting young and not so young players. Juve start the campaign as favourites, but we must try to close the gap.

“Daniele De Rossi is an exemplary captain in all respects, when he plays and when he doesn’t. He’s a reference point for the squad, both on and off the field, and has the characteristics for that role.

“I am here to evaluate the players in the squad and I am in no rush. Gerson is working hard and trying to do those things that aren’t necessarily his strengths. I’m very happy with him so far, but that doesn’t mean it is a final verdict and the evaluations will continue.

“Monchi also said the priority is to get another wide player, then we’ll evaluate getting another midfielder. It’s a competitive squad and we continue evaluating.”
