Antonio Cassano has revealed that he could play again after reflecting on his retirement confusion. “If I have second thoughts, I’m crazy!”
That decision still stands, but the former Italy star has now suggested that he could see himself turning out for Genoa or Serie B side Virtus Entella.
“In life, it happens that you have second thoughts over certain things, but if I do it I’m crazy!,” the 35-year-old told La Stampa.
“At Verona, the spark wasn’t there and I told everyone that it was better for me to stop instead of dragging the thing on.
“When I spoke to Verona, I never said ‘I’m retiring’. I challenge anyone to say I did. After that, other things were written, but the truth is this.
“In fact, at the time of my departure, they asked me to insert a compensation clause if I found another team. And I agreed to it.
“Homesickness came into my decision, but it was also a matter of feeling. My wife, however, was willing to follow me anywhere.
“Entella would be a great challenge, to go for the miracle of Serie A. My relationship with [President] Gozzi is great.
“Genoa? I’ve known Preziosi for a long time. I rate Juric, he has fire in his belly.
“Sampdoria? I’d have liked to be coached by Giampaolo at this point of my career. I’d have been great in his style of play.
“Whoever wants me must call me, I don’t have any agents. Cut-off point? September, otherwise I’ll stay at home.”
