Fiorentina have confirmed that Matias Vecino will undergo a medical with Inter ahead of a €24m transfer to the Nerazzurri.
A statement on Fiorentina’s official website also states Inter have activated Vecino’s release clause, contrary to reports that they would spread the cost by paying slightly more.
“ACF Fiorentina announce that FC Internazionale have expressed their intention to acquire the sporting rights of player Matias Vecino using his release clause,” it read.
“The Viola therefore authorise the player to undergo the preparatory medical exams for the definition of the agreement.”
The Uruguayan, who turns 26 next month, was given his top-level breakthrough by Maurizio Sarri at Empoli in 2014.
He then returned to the Viola after his loan spell and enjoyed first-team status in each of the last two campaigns.
