Sampdoria have confirmed the signing of former Bologna star Gaston Ramirez from Middlesbrough.
Previous reports suggest Samp will pay up to €11m for Ramirez, although details of the midfielder’s contract have not been disclosed.
“President Massimo Ferrero and U.C. Sampdoria can both announce that they have definitively acquired the sporting rights of player Gaston Exequiel Ramirez from Middlesbrough F.C,” read a statement on the Blucerchiati’s official website.
The 26-year-old scored 15 goals and assisted eight in 60 appearances for Bologna between 2010 and 2012.
He then joined Southampton but struggled to replicate his form in Italy for the Saints, before spells at Hull City and Boro followed.
Ramirez also has 41 caps for Uruguay and represented his country at the 2014 World Cup.
