The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has confirmed that Luigi Di Biagio will stay on as Coach of the Under-21s.

Di Biagio’s position came under fire after he failed to guide Italy beyond the group stage at the European U21 Championship earlier in the summer.

However, the FIGC stated on its official website that the former Roma and Inter midfielder had extended his contract for another two years.

Consequently, he will take the Azzurrini to the Euro U21 finals in 2019, which Italy is hosting, and possibly the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
