Geoffrey Kondogbia has gone AWOL, but Inter still won’t let him join Valencia for less than €30m, insist Sky Sport Italia.
The midfielder did not turn up for training on Friday, sparking a furious reaction from Coach Luciano Spalletti.
He is determined to push through a transfer to Valencia, but Inter have no intention of making it easy.
According to Sky Sport Italia, the Nerazzurri will warn that Kondogbia is not for sale at a price under €30m.
The 24-year-old only arrived at San Siro from Monaco for €36m plus bonuses in July 2015, after a bidding war with Milan.
He has gradually slipped down the pecking order, particularly with the arrival of Borja Valero and Matias Vecino from Fiorentina.
Southampton had also shown an interest earlier this summer, but then struck a club record deal with Juventus for Mario Lemina instead.
Valencia are hoping to spread the cost by signing Kondogbia on loan with obligation to pay at the end of the season.
Another alternative would be to give Inter a percentage of any future sale.
The two clubs are already in advanced negotiations for Jeison Murillo’s €13m transfer to Valencia.
“With Murillo we’re very close to reaching a deal, but until he’s signed I’ll say nothing,” Valencia sporting director Mateu Alemany told reporters last night.
“Kondogbia is a bit further away and we’ll have to wait a little longer. He’s a player who cost a lot of money and he’s important.”
Last season, Kondogbia made just 26 competitive appearances between Serie A and the Coppa Italia, contributing one goal and two assists.
