“It is certainly an important match for us, the first of the season and a trophy is up for grabs,” Parolo told Rai Sport this evening.

“We must play with intensity to cause Juve problems and realise this is a one-off game, so anything can happen.

“Regardless of systems and tactics, we must try not to be passive, as we intend to fight for the result from the first to the last minute. If we give Juve the initiative, we hand them the Cup.”

Keita Balde Diao was left out of the squad entirely after contract speculation, as he has made it clear he wants to join Juventus this summer.

“The Coach was clear, he laid out the rules and we follow what he says.”

Juventus have changed a great deal over the summer, but Parolo doesn’t see them weakened.

“They have also signed strong new players, Juve are still Juve and have always won regardless of the players in the side, so they will be a tough opponent.

“Having said that, we don’t intend to just throw in the towel. We want to cause them numerous problems from start to finish. We’re still smarting from the Coppa Italia Final defeat, as after that we didn’t win any Serie A games.”
