Hoedt says Lazio goodbyes

Wesley Hoedt has reportedly said goodbye to his Lazio teammates, as he prepares to join Southampton.

It was reported yesterday that the Saints had made a €17m bid for the Dutch centre-back, with the Biancocelesti having agreed with the player’s agent that they’d sell him for that price.

This morning, Tuttomercatoweb reports, Hoedt said goodbye to his teammates at Formello, and he’ll fly to England imminently.

The website reports that the fee will in fact be €15m, though it’s possible this doesn’t include bonuses.

Hoedt is likely to be a replacement for Virgil van Dijk, who has handed in a transfer request and wants to join Liverpool.
