Saturday’s SampdoriaRoma Serie A match has been postponed after a weather alert for the city of Genoa this weekend.

The news came from the Comune di Genova, the city council, closing numerous roads.

The Stadio Luigi Ferraris, also commonly known as Marassi, is located very close to an area prone to flooding in the port city.

This game had been due to kick off on Saturday September 9 at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).

It has been postponed to a later date, as there is an Orange Alert on Genoa for Saturday from 13.00 to 22.59 UK time.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected for the area in Liguria.
