Gian Piero Gasperini is confident of Atalanta’s chances against Everton after seeing his side beat Sassuolo.

La Dea collected their first Serie A points of the season with a 2-1 victory over the Neroverdi this afternoon, but they were made to work hard.

“We definitely did well for a good part of the game until we condeded the goal,” Gasperini reflected after the Bergamo outfit were almost pegged back late on.

“In the second half we suffered, we conceded a disastrous counter-attack.

“In certain aspects we were good, in others we were not that good at the end.

“Getting three points in this situation will give us a good boost as we prepare for Thursday.”

The Atalanta boss then looked ahead to his side’s Europa League opener against the Toffees and admitted his players will have to produce a better performance than today’s.

“Let’s hope we see a better Atalanta because we have been looking forward to this game for many years. We want a good performance.

“We have belief and we have to play better than in the second half today.

“There are a lot of people who will come to watch and we have all the conditions to play a good game.”
