Miralem Pjanic admits Juventus “could’ve done better” and has particular regrets over the first goal in a 3-0 defeat to Barcelona.

Lionel Messi broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time and added another after the break, along with Ivan Rakitic.

“In the first half, we can’t concede a goal like that. It was such a good first half performance, we were in the game and had our chances,” the midfielder told Mediaset Premium.

“Once Barcelona take the lead, they control the ball and do what they want. We could’ve done better and this will serve as a lesson. We are just at the beginning, but it’s still a pity, we could’ve done better.”

Elsewhere in the Champions League group, Sporting CP earned a surprise 3-2 victory away to Olympiacos.

“It is just the first game in the group, so people are exaggerating with the criticism. The team will react as it always has done. We lost against a great side and were missing a lot of players.

“The important thing is to learn from your mistakes. We could’ve scored if we had been more aggressive in attack.”
