The group that plans to take over Genoa has attacked President Enrico Preziosi for his “disregard” in selling the club.

SRI Group has been in talks to buy Genoa since the summer, but a deal has proved difficult to come by and a spokesman for CEO Giulio Gallazzi made it clear he was not impressed by the patron’s conduct.

“Disregarding every rule of character, not just in terms of behaviour but also professional, the President of Genoa, Enrico Preziosi, did not allow Beniamino Anselmi and his staff, as agreed, to access the data room in order to start financial and legal due diligence,” he told Lettera43.

“It is a surprise move, which risks destabilising negotiations that are already very difficult.

“Also, due diligence, which is the phase of analysis of a company’s accounts prior to signatures for a possible deal, would be interrupted and postponed until a later date.”
