Cagliari Coach Massimo Rastelli praised his side’s ‘change in mentality’ after a 2-0 win at SPAL.

Despite comfortably maintaining their Serie A status last season, the Sardinian side were beaten 14 times in 19 away matches.

However, today’s victory ensured they opened their account on the road this campaign.

“We need to keep going with this mentality,” Rastelli explained after victory in Ferrara.

However, today’s victory ensured they opened their account on the road this campaign.

“We need to keep going with this mentality,” Rastelli explained after victory in Ferrara.

“We know we now have two years of important work behind us. Last season, our Achilles heel was away matches.

“This year, we want to change our mentality and today I think the team showed that by winning a game. It was never in doubt.”

Rastelli was also asked to compare his new signing Leonardo Pavoletti to Marco Borriello, who recently left to join today’s opponents.

“People have talked about this situation a lot, now we are thinking about the present.

“Pavoletti is different to Marco but seeing him win the ball back in the 94th minute shows he understands the spirit of this team.”
