Leandro Castan has reportedly extended his Roma contract, but it’s just a way of spreading his wages over a longer period.
The centre-back was a crucial part of the Giallorossi side in 2012-13 and 2013-14, but at the start of the following season he had to undergo brain surgery to remove a cavernoma.
He’s been unable to break into the side since, and spent the second half of last season on loan at Torino.
According to Il Tempo, the Brazilian has now signed a new contract with the Lupi, tying him to the club until 2020.
However, that’s simply a way of spreading the remaining two years of salary owed to Castan, around €8m gross, over three.
Sporting director Monchi will still try to sell Castan in the January transfer window.
