Atalanta are reportedly considering a January swoop for Nice and France Under-21 winger Allan Saint-Maximin.

According to Sportitalia’s Alfredo Pedulla, Saint-Maximin represents a ‘dream’ for Atalanta, who have already taken ‘the first concrete steps’ towards an agreement.

The 20-year-old only joined Nice over the summer but was arguably the side’s best player during their 4-0 aggregate defeat to Napoli in the Champions League playoffs.

The 20-year-old only joined Nice over the summer but was arguably the side’s best player during their 4-0 aggregate defeat to Napoli in the Champions League playoffs.

However, he is unlikely to come cheap, given the French club paid Ligue 1 rivals Monaco €10m for his signature, while his value is thought to have increased by €5-6m.

Nonetheless, Pedulla concludes Saint-Maximin “would be ideal in Gian Piero Gasperini’s system” and “could grow further” under the Coach.
