Milan look to Lippi?

Not only is Carlo Ancelotti’s shadow hanging over Vincenzo Montella, but Milan are also reportedly in contact with Marcello Lippi.

According to La Repubblica newspaper, the current manager of China is ready to step in should Montella continue to struggle.

Having failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, Lippi is back in Italy at the moment and was spotted in the stands when Milan took on SPAL.

The Rossoneri have lost two of their opening six Serie A games and have a very rough fixture list coming up against Roma and Inter.

Montella’s position is rumoured to be at risk after he already parted company with his long-term fitness trainer Emanuele Marra.

While Ancelotti is the prime candidate after his dismissal by Bayern Munich, Lippi has been linked with the Milan job for several years.

He had a brief spell at San Siro with their local rivals Inter, but is most closely associated with Juventus, winning multiple trophies including the Champions League over two different spells.

Above all, Lippi was at the helm when Italy won the 2006 World Cup.
