It was a surprisingly hard-fought match in Sardinia, but which Inter players made the grade in the Football Italia ratings?

Words: Ciro Di Brita – @Ciruzzo36

Samir Handanovic – 8

Made an outrageous save to stop a Leonardo Pavoletti effort from going over the line in the first half. Couldn’t do much about the goal.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – 6

Has become solid and dependable for Luciano Spalletti’s side and had another good game.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – 6

Has become solid and dependable for Luciano Spalletti’s side and had another good game.

Milan Skriniar – 6

Comfortable on the ball and always looking to play it in to Roberto Gagliardini’s feet. Was caught under the cross for Pavoletti’s early chance. Redeemed himself by starting the attack that led to Marcelo Brozovic’s goal only to be caught out again from the cross that led to Pavoletti’s goal.

Joao Miranda –  7

Had a good old battle with Pavoletti all night, made some timely interceptions. Was booked early in the game.

Davide Santon – 6

Was a bit too eager at times, was energetic and available on the right flank. Clearly happy to be back on the pitch.

Matias Vecino – 6

Played a dangerous pass across the face of goal for Mauro Icardi, but the Argentine couldn’t capitalize on it. Limped off inside the first 10 minutes of the second half.

Roberto Gagliardini –  6

Is growing in stature every game and is taking on more responsibility with the ball, was good in the first half when he had space to play in. During the second half, Borja Valero played too close to him and took control of the ball.

Antonio Candreva – 7

Sent in a good cross for the opening goal and then set up Brozovic for Inter’s second. Helped set up the third too. Productive evening for him.

Borja Valero – 6

Played further up the field leaving the tempo to be set by Gagliardini, saw less of the ball than he probably would have preferred in the first half, played deeper in the second.

Ivan Perisic – 6

Did well to get on the end of Candreva’s cross and set Icardi up for the first goal.  Jumped with the keeper to put him off in the lead-up to the third goal.

Mauro Icardi – 8

One touch, one goal, that’s all Icardi needs. Never looked like he was in the game until he popped up to open the scoring. The same can be said for his second goal.

Substitutes:

Marcelo Brozovic – 7

Replaced Vecino early in the second half and scored three minutes later with more or less his first touch.

Joao Cancelo – N/A

Came on for Candreva for the last five minutes.

Eder – N/A

Replaced Icardi to wind down the clock.
