D'Ambrosio: 'Spalletti psychological work'

Danilo D’Ambrosio celebrates 100 appearances for Inter and thanks Coach Luciano Spalletti for doing “psychological work” on the team.

The Nerazzurri are currently second in the Serie A table and hope to take advantage of tomorrow night’s Napoli-Juventus clash.

“Victories help us to build a winning mentality,” D’Ambrosio told Sky Sport Italia ahead of the Chievo encounter.

“This season we are achieving results with Spalletti because he is doing psychological work on the team. When you get good results, those who come in to the team can benefit from the overall form of the side. Whether we play or not, we all train to the max.

“Our objective for now is to qualify for the Champions League.”

The full-back recently made his 100th appearance in an Inter jersey.

“I don’t like to make long-term plans, but prefer to focus on improving every day. That kind of consistency allowed me to reach 100 games with this glorious shirt and I hope to get another 100.

“In a great team, you need two players for every role and so I never felt that my position was in doubt, as such. I also played as a centre-back in my career and Spalletti thinks I can do it again. Inter spent well on the market and can now reap the rewards.

“It’s true that we are a very physical side with many tall players. We’re also aggressive and don’t want to concede on set plays.”
