This will be Iachini’s debut on the Neroverdi bench after Cristian Bucchi was fired on Monday.
“Iachini is a teammate who I played with for seven years and a great guy who is dedicated to his work,” explained Pioli in the Press conference.

“A new Coach brings new motivation and Iachini will certainly do well at Sassuolo – but not tomorrow. All that counts is the result and we must stay faithful to our strategy.”
Sassuolo are familiar to Pioli too, as he was on their bench in the 2009-10 Serie B campaign.
“It was a wonderful time in my career. It’s great to see them stable in Serie A and I think they achieved less than they deserved under Bucchi. There are talented players and we must respect our opponents.
“We’ve got the youngest squad in Serie A and it’s only normal we’ll take a while to get into gear, but the team has played fairly consistently. We need to give it something extra now to win certain games.
“The treatment room has emptied out, after we had too many injuries in November, and Riccardo Saponara is improving his fitness levels.”
