Former Alaves and Albania Coach Gianni De Biasi has been contacted for the Crotone job after Davide Nicola resigned, claims Sky Sport Italia.

The decision caused a shockwave in Serie A, as Nicola had taken the Squali to safety in their first ever Serie A season.

He tended his resignation after a row with President Gianni Vrenna, who entered the locker room at half-time of their 3-0 defeat to Udinese on Monday.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Crotone have contacted De Biasi, who was only fired last week by Spanish side Alaves.

Before that, he had taken Albania to Euro 2016, and it’s that international experience that made De Biasi a potential contender for the Italy job.

Other candidates for Crotone include Stefano Colantuono, Walter Zenga and Domenico Di Carlo.
