Leonardo Semplici praised the spirit of his SPAL players after they fought back late on to earn a point against Verona.
The Biancazzurri fell two goals behind against their relegation rivals but recovered to earn a dramatic draw thanks to late goals by Alberto Paloschi and Mirco Antenucci.
“Today, we again gave our opponents a bit of a head start,” Semplici admitted after the final whistle.
“The penalty broke the deadlock and it demoralised us.
“But then something changed, we hit the post twice but we managed to deservedly come back by believing in the right values.”
Despite today’s late heroics, the result means SPAL have now failed to win in their last five Serie A games.
