Pordenone’s players received a standing ovation from the San Siro crowd, after taking Serie A leaders Inter to penalties in the Coppa Italia.
The Serie C side hit the post in the first half and attacked for most of the match, before doggedly hanging on in extra-time for a 0-0 draw.
The Nerazzurri sent on Ivan Perisic, Marcelo Brozovic and Mauro Icardi, but still couldn’t break down the third division side.
When Yuto Nagatomo scored to send Luciano Spalletti’s side through 5-4 on penalties, Pordenone’s efforts were applauded by their 4,000 travelling fans.
However, the beaten players also received a standing ovation from the Inter fans.
