Roma Coach Eusebio Di Francesco says Edin Dzeko and Patrik Schick could play together but - “I won’t say if that’s tomorrow”.
The Giallorossi face Cagliari at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday night, as they look to bounce back from their 0-0 draw with Chievo.
“It’s a pleasure to hear that the lads have integrated,” Di Francesco said in his pre-match Press conference.
“They could compete for one place. I’ve worked with Schick over these weeks and it’s possible - I won’t say if that’s tomorrow - that they could play together.
“We have a trident in attack, and in that trident Schick can play through the middle or on the right.
“He’s had to improve his physical and athletic condition, he’s a smart lad who applies himself in a certain way, he’s got huge margins to improve.
“It’s a positive surprise, we’re happy with him but he still has work to do. That doesn’t mean he can’t play from the start though, even tomorrow.”
Roma have been struggling to score goals in recent weeks, and the Coach was asked about that issue.
“We’ve done a lot of drills to better attack the goal and score, given what we’ve created in the past few races we haven’t been very solid from that point of view.
“We need to respond with facts, and then we’d like not to concede either.
“There’s some room for improvement for us, because we don’t score many goals compared to the other teams.
“We’re not conceding many but we need to improve up-front and we need goals form the likes of [Cengiz] Under and [Gregoire] Defrel.
“They’re training well though, they just need to improve in that, be more ruthless in front of goal. It’s easy saying it though, it’s something we have to do.”
Will Aleksandar Kolarov be rested?
“We’ll let him rest one of these days!” Di Francesco said with a laugh.
“I think it’s time for Emerson [Palmieri]. Not tomorrow, but I think he’ll play in the Coppa Italia and Kolarov will rest.”
