De Rossi: ‘No rush for Azzurri’

Daniele De Rossi says Italy should be in no rush to appoint a new Coach following their World Cup failure.

The Azzurri sacked Giampiero Ventura shortly after last month’s play-off defeat to Swedenand have been evaluating a number of options since.

However, with the Nazionale not facing their next competitive fixture until next autumn, the Roma captain insists the FIGC should take all the time they need in appointing a new boss.

“Unfortantely we don’t any important commitments for quite a while,” De Rossi explained.

“There is no rush to make a decision, we can take some more time to think about it.

“The Federation is assessing a lot of options. It was a big blow and we will need to start again with an important team and boss. It needs patience.

“If we are making our assessment, we need to realise that other teams have something more.

“But starting again with a great Coach would be important.”

De Rossi retired from international football upon Italy’s failure to reach next summer’s World Cup in Russia.
