Pecchia: ‘Beating Milan a reward’

Verona Coach Fabio Pecchia describes beating Milan as ‘a reward’ for his players’ hard work.

The Scaligeri, who started the day second from bottom of Serie A, secured a resounding 3-0 victory over the Rossoneri at the Stadio Bentegodi.

“Behind this win there is a lot of great work. Today was a reward,” Pecchia reflected.

“But we need to put it behind us immediately and think about Udine.

“It wasn’t just the defence who worked well, but also the midfield.

“All the players have potential, we just need to get the best out of them. They have spirit.”

Pecchia admitted that he wanted to exact revenge on Milan, who beat Verona 3-0 themselves just a few days ago in the Coppa Italia.

“Today we wanted revenge for the defeat on Wednesday. We wanted to not concede, then a few things went our way as well.

“You’ll have to ask Gattuso about Milan’s problems. I didn’t see a team who are struggling physically, I am too focused on my own players to judge.

“In the Coppa Italia we didn’t manage to hurt them but today we did.”
