Gian Piero Gasperini maintains Atalanta “emerge stronger” after their 3-3 draw with Lazio. “We played the kind of football I like.”
The Orobici had gone 2-0 up after just 22 minutes, but were pegged back to 2-2 by half-time, then a Josip Ilicic penalty was again cancelled out by Luis Alberto.
“I am satisfied anyway, as Lazio are an excellent team. We emerge stronger from this game, as we played the kind of football I like,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.
“We played at a high tempo and only had a moment of difficulty towards half-time. Of course, Lazio have technically-gifted players and were able to make the most of it.
“I must say there was still a sense of disappointment at the final whistle, because with a win we could’ve really climbed up the table. It remains a very balanced campaign and we played a very strong team, but gained the knowledge we can fight it out with the best of them.”
Atalanta’s next match is a trip to San Siro, where Milan are struggling and lost 3-0 to Hellas Verona today.
“It’s always difficult at San Siro, but we’ve got what it takes to play our game. This type of match is on a knife-edge.”
