Benfica demand €20m for Grimaldo

Atletico Madrid are reportedly still blocking Sime Vrsaljko, but Napoli’s backup option, Alex Grimaldo, would cost €20m.

The Partenopei are looking to strengthen at full-back, as Faouzi Ghoulam is out with a cruciate ligament injury.

Their first choice was former Sassuolo defender Vrsaljko, but President Aurelio De Laurentiis admitted last week that Atleti won’t sell in January.

It then emerged that Grimaldo was their backup plan, but Sky reports he would cost more than Napoli are willing to pay.

It’s claimed Benfica would demand at least €20m, and the Neapolitans aren’t keen to spend that much in January.
