Diego Lopez concedes Cagliari made “too many mistakes” and were bound to be punished by Fiorentina in a 1-0 home defeat.

The Sardinians kept themselves in the game thanks to Alessio Cragno’s saves, but were finally undone by a late Khouma Babacar goal.

“We didn’t put in the performance that we wanted, as there wasn’t enough intensity and we lost our way a little,” confessed the Coach on Sky Sport Italia.

“We didn’t put in the performance that we wanted, as there wasn’t enough intensity and we lost our way a little,” confessed the Coach on Sky Sport Italia.

“If you give the ball away to a side like Fiorentina that many times, you will pay the price. We had a chance to score in the first and second half, but should in any case have held on for a point.

“There were too many mistakes, we weren’t our usual selves and must find the right path again. We need to ensure Serie A safety and to do that we’ve got to give more.

“It was completely the wrong approach. We struggled to hold the ball up and consequently were pushed back, allowing so many counter-attacks. We made life difficult for ourselves.”
