Marco Giampaolo declared himself satisfied with Sampdoria’s effort in their 3-2 defeat at Napoli.
The Blucerchiati twice took the lead at the San Paolo but were pegged back before Marek Hamsik netted the winner before half time.
“I asked the boys to show courage to go out and evade the first period of pressure, because otherwise Napoli annihilate you,” Giampaolo said at his post-match Press conference.
“We tried our best, you can’t make mistakes here.”
The Sampdoria Coach was asked about his forward Duvan Zapata, who has proven a fine piece of business since arriving from the Partenopei over the summer.
“Napoli can make choices, not everyone can do that.
“From our point of view, Duvan is showing he is a great player.
“He has characteristics which are different to the others. Napoli preferred to go for fast and speedy players.
“There is cohesion between [Maurizio] Sarri’s decisions and his style of play.”
Giampaolo also commented on comparisons between himself and Napoli boss Sarri.
“We are both passionate about football and we had almost non-existant careers as players. In order to get to where we are, we had to study.”
