Cagliari forward Joao Pedro has been given a four-match ban for simulation and then stamping on Fiorentina’s Federico Chiesa.
The Brazilian had already been booked for diving in the penalty area and that would’ve incurred a one-match ban anyway, as it was his fifth of the season.
Towards the end of the match against Fiorentina, Joao Pedro them stamped on Chiesa’s foot in an off the ball incident, which was viewed and evaluated with VAR technology, and sent off.
The combination of the two incidents means Joao Pedro will be suspended for four Serie A games.
Handed one-match bans for this weekend’s round are Andrea Poli (Bologna), Mario Rui (Napoli), Arlind Ajeti (Crotone) and Daniele Baselli (Torino).
