Luciano Spalletti was on the defensive in his post-match comments after Inter’s 0-0 draw with Lazio. “We had the right mentality.”

“We will need many points this season and have to face games with the right mentality and belief, like we did today,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium and Sky Sport Italia.

“We will need many points this season and have to face games with the right mentality and belief, like we did today,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium and Sky Sport Italia.

“I expect what this team has already done during this first half of the season and I won’t be influenced by the judgment of others.”

Lazio Coach Simone Inzaghi felt his team deserved the victory this evening.

“I could say the same, I could say different, it’s up to everyone to have their own individual opinion. I am not interested in replying to what others say.

“What interests me is knowing the team put in a good performance. We were organised for this game and tonight I found all the ingredients in the right place.”

The Nerazzurri needed a boost, as they had lost three on the bounce between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

“When you lose two or three games and go out of the Coppa Italia, it’s natural that those who wish ill upon you or hope that you’ll go back to old ways of previous years will come out of the woodwork.

“I am not an optimist as such, but I know that if you’re pessimistic, then you won’t get the result. I try to give my players confidence in themselves.

“If we had two draws against Udinese and Sassuolo, which is what we deserved, then people would be talking about a stratospheric first half of the season for Inter.

“We have 41 points and I’d be more than happy to notch up 41 in the second half of the season too.”
