Fiorentina have asked Watford for midfielder Etienne Capuoe after Galatasaray made an approach for Ianis Hagi.
According to Sky Sport Italia, the Viola are interested in the 29-year-old, who can also play as a centre-back when needed.
He joined Watford from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2015 for €9m and is under contract until June 2019.
This season Capoue has contributed two goals in 11 competitive games for the Hornets, also catching the eye of Spanish club Leganes.
The main issue would be his €2m per year salary, which goes against Fiorentina’s general downsizing.
They could raise some funds for the move with the aid of Hagi, who is getting no playing time with the senior squad.
The teenage son of Romanian legend Gheorghe Hagi is frustrated in Florence and could move to his Dad’s old club Galatasaray.
